Suspended Security G License? Recertification 28 hours class

$150.00

In Person Training in Clermont or Fort Lauderdale, Florida

An applicant for a Armed Class G Statewide Firearm License for Security Officer must submit proof of having completed an initial course of instruction that includes 28 hours of classroom and range training pertaining to the use of firearms in connection with duties regulated under Chapter 493, Florida Statutes (F.S.).

The 28-hour course curriculum is outlined below:

Legal Aspects of Use of Firearms — 12 hours

This section of the course covers applicable portions of chapters 493775776 and 790, F.S., as well as civil and criminal liability issues in connection with the use of firearms.

Operational Firearms Safety and Firearms Mechanical Training — 8 to 11 hours

This portion of the curriculum is intended to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the mechanical operations of a firearm and how to handle firearms safely. A written examination of 100 questions will be administered covering the portions of the curriculum dealing with legal use and operational/mechanical training.

Firearms Qualification — 8 hours*

This segment of the training course includes practical exercises in the handling of firearms — stance, grip, sighting, etc. — as well as topics pertaining to range safety and range commands. The instructor will require students to fire 144 rounds as part of the firearms qualification for initial licensure (48 rounds of practice fire plus two cycles of 48 rounds for initial qualification). No more than eight hours of the 28 hours of training shall consist of range training.

*A Class “K” instructor can, at their discretion, administer as few as five hours of range qualification training if the student demonstrates sufficient mastery of the core principles of safe firearms handling (to include shooting a qualifying score) without the full eight hours of range training. However, reducing the number of hours of range training will require teaching additional hours elsewhere in the curriculum so that the cumulative total of firearms training amounts to 28 hours as required by Section 493.6105(5), F.S.

In the event that you do not have a license as mentioned above, you can obtain the Security Officer Armed G license by enrolling in the Bundle course. This way you will get a discount and become eligible to get the D Unarmed license.

On July 19, 2023 the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Licensing has drafted Statute and Rule Changes pertinent to Class K Instructors. As a result of the changes the following has been adopted.

Online Training

The 20-hour classroom training for Class “G” licenses can now be partially or fully
taught online. The 8-hour range training must continue to be taught in person.
• Firearms training can now be taught by one or more Class “K” firearms instructors.

Starting July 19, 2023, Class “K” instructors will be required to report training and generate
certificates of firearm proficiency via the Online Training Reporting portal accessible
through LIAS.

The training certificates generated using the Online Training Reporting portal will
contain a unique Audit Control Number (ACN), that will be used by the division to
validate training. As a result, the requirement that Class “G” applicants provide their
“original” proof of training directly to DOL was eliminated, meaning that the applicant can now
submit their training certificates to DOL via other methods (i.e. fax, email).

• All classroom instruction must be conducted by in-person instruction; or live online
instruction through a secure website, provided the applicant’s identity, attendance and
successful completion of training are verified by the instructor.
• Class “K” instructors must generate training certificates (COFP) via the Online Reporting
Portal accessible through LIAS for each student who completes training
• Firearms instructors must conduct the firearm training live to allow for necessary student
teacher interaction in real time (simultaneously) when teaching students to use firearms.
• If a 28-hour class is taught by more than one instructor, then each Class “K” instructor is
responsible for generating a certificate for each student for the number of hours of class
the instructor taught.
• Class “K” instructors must provide students with either an electronic or paper copy of
each reported Certificate of Firearm Proficiency within 3 business days of class
completion.

Here are some requirements to be eligible for a Security Officer G License in the State of Florida.
