Training/Experience
You must submit proof of successful completion of a minimum of 40 hours of professional training provided by a security officer school or training facility licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
Exceptions:
- If you are a currently employed law enforcement officer, correctional officer or correctional probation officer certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission, a copy of your valid ID card issued by your employing law enforcement agency is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.
- If you have successfully completed a training program approved by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission for certification as a law enforcement officer, correctional officer or correctional probation officer, a copy of your certificate of completion is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.
- If you qualify for a Class “DI” security officer instructor license under Rule 5N-1.138(1)(e)-(g), Florida Administrative Code, proof of such qualification is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.
- If you received relevant military training or education during service in the United States Armed Forces, proof of such training or education is sufficient to satisfy the training requirement.
This State of Florida 40 hour security license D ONLINE course meets the State Curriculum and Certification required to obtain the Security Officer Unarmed D License. This course is provided by a Security Officer Training Facility licensed by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The instructor holds a DI license to teach and certify you once you complete the required curriculum and upon successful completion of the course exam.

Important Information About the Online Course
The Security Class D Online Training is ideal for students who cannot attend in-person sessions but can maintain strong self-discipline and time management. This course includes:
- 40 hours of instructor-led online coursework

- A retake fee of $50 applies if the exam is not passed on the first attempt

Recommended that you are highly dedicated and responsible for the instruction of this class. This course requires the successful passing of a 170 questions exam with a score of 75%.
The State of Florida requires that you answer random questions during the Online Security D license course in order to verify that you are present during the class sessions. In the event that you do not answer the randomized questions the system will mark you absent from class and you would have to re-take the class at another class session. The school may extend to you a courtesy reduced enrollment fee; however, the school is not obligated to extend any discounts if it deems that the student had not completed the course with a valid reason. Such reason is solely up to the instructors’ discretion. A valid excuse is an example such as a death in the immediate family that occurred and upon providing a valid death certificate, consideration will be taken. In other words, there are very limited excuses that will be considered for absenteeism. In the event, that this is the case you must complete the course by the next course offering.
Active participation and a distraction-free environment are mandatory to meet state requirements.
